Sec. 4 Sci(Bio) Students: Learn Food Tests

To all Sec. 4E Science Biology students,

Please read up on the steps involved in the various food tests for your practical sessions. Know the steps, expected observations and corresponding conclusions of the following food tests:

- Test for starch (Iodine test)
- Test for reducing sugars (Benedict's solution test)
- Test for proteins (Biuret's test)
- Test for fats (Ethanol emulsion test)

We have only 3 weeks more to your prelim exams! We can't afford to lose precious "lab" time... Study hard and hang on!

Dear all Sec. 3 Biology students,
below is the schedule of test dates and topics for term 3... do jot them down into your hp/student handbook/diaries etc... your respective teachers will notify you again in class...

Pure Biology (Sec. 3/3, 3/4, 3/5)
Test 1
Term 3 Week 6, Friday, 1 August
Topics: Nutrition in plants and Transport in plants (only xylem, phloem and everything related to transpiration)

Test 2
Term 3 Week 8, Friday, 15 August
Topics: Transport in plants (translocation studies) and Transport in man (blood)

Science Biology (Sec. 3/1, 3/2)
Test 1
Term 3 Week 6, Wednesday, 30 July
Topic: Nutrition in plants

Test 2
Term 3 Week 8, Wednesday, 13 July (tentative)
Topic: Transport in Plants

Consulation sessions will be held on odd week wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30pm. These sessions are complusory for those who score C5 and below for previous test. However, please go for these sessions on your own if you have problems/queries regarding any topic... Alternatively, you may want to approach your respective teachers after school but please remember to make appointments.
